Established in 2008 by Artistic Director Dorian Mallia, the acclaimed Moveo Dance Company has consistently showcased contemporary performances both locally and on the international stage. Among its notable original productions are "Frida," "Carmen," and "The Other Door - What’s Wrong," which have graced the stages of various local theatres. These productions have also garnered global recognition, with international showings in cities like London, Berlin, Washington DC, Denmark, Bruno Cz, Liberec Cz, and Romania. In 2018, Moveo was honored with a prestigious commission to contribute to the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Centre's "Black and White" production in Kuwait. The company has further extended its reach by participating in numerous festivals and events, such as Notte Bianca, Lejliet Lapsi, Malta International Arts Festival, Science in the City, Ziguzajg Kids & Youths Festival, Toi Toi, and CHOGM. Notably, Moveo boasts four performances listed in the Malta Showcase catalogue, celebrating outstanding Maltese artistic achievements. Their captivating performance, "From Malta with Love," has also been touring internationally at festivals in Romania, Corsica, Bulgaria, Italy, and other destinations.
Moveo Shine, a specialized branch dedicated to producing children's performances and outreach programs, has curated a distinct repertoire, featuring specialised performances performed in children's festivals and in schools around Malta and Gozo.
In 2016, Diane Portelli assumed the role of Director, and both Dorian Mallia and Diane Portelli, under the umbrella of Moveo Dance Company, were honored with the esteemed Premju Ghall-Arti award, recognizing them as Artists of the Year for 2018. Their commitment to artistic excellence was further affirmed when Moveo Dance Company was presented with the "Best Creative Enterprise Award" in 2020. In 2021, their performance "Diversely Typical" secured the coveted "Best Production" award (People's Choice) at the inaugural STEM Awards, celebrating the convergence of Arts, Science, and Technology, hosted by Esplora. In 2023, "From Malta with Love" received a prestigious "Special Mention Award" from the Audience Jury at Teatro Nudo di Teresa Pomodoro.
