THE KISS
The Kiss is a dance film by Moveo Dance Company choreographed by Diane Portelli, inspired by Canto V of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno and the tragic love story of Francesca and Paolo.
Through the relationship between dance, camera, and sound, the film presents a contemporary interpretation of one of literature’s most enduring representations of love. The kiss between Francesca and Paolo, which has inspired artists across different art forms, becomes the starting point for an exploration of passion, desire, innocence, and transgression.
Dante’s literary masterpiece is brought further to life by Albert Garcia’s soundscape, which depicts elements such as the storm and the cries of the infernal realm, while the cinematography and editing by Kevin Kiomall use light, movement, and camera perspectives to expand the physical language of the dance.
