Diane Portelli Director/Dancer/Choreographer Diane started her training at the age of three at Tanya Bayona Academy of Ballet. In 1999 she furthered her training at The Dance Workshop in Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz where she is currently a teacher and choreographer. She also trained Flamenco under the direction of Rosanna Maya for many years. She was awarded the Luisello award for Spanish Dance in 1996 and the Duke of Ellington award for Modern Dance in 1998. In 2004, she furthered her dance training in Pavia for a year. Diane has attended various courses both locally and abroad. Last year she was also selected to participate in an international workshop with the renowned dance company Random Dance Company. In 2000, she participated in the World Championships for Performing Arts in Hollywood, together with two other dancers, where they won two gold medals under the direction of Janet Vella. She has performed in various international festivals including Portugal, Hong Kong, Tunisia and Brussels amongst others. She has been a guest choreographer for many local projects and was asked to assist direct, perform and choreograph for DanceWorks in 2012, when it was founded. Diane obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce at University of Malta in 2003 and is currently working towards her DDE qualifications in modern theatre. Currently working with Moveo Dance Company as the company manager and also as a performer, she is also one of the managers at Mapoma Limited.
